Venue Spotlight Featuring BATL Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls, Canada, doesn’t need any introduction. As one of the seven natural Wonders of the World, Niagara Falls is a destination year-round averaging 12+ Million visitors annually.

First incorporated in 1903, the city of Niagara Falls may be famous for its namesake, but has been steadily growing as a top destination for more than just the falls. Sure, it’s known as the honeymoon capital of Canada, but that’s not where it stops. Niagara Falls is a favourite destination for young and old alike.

Unlike many other destinations in the world, Niagara Falls has spots and attractions that cater to everyone’s tastes. With new attractions and events, Niagara Falls continues to grow and attracts more and more people throughout the year. If you’re looking for action and excitement, head down to Clifton Hills.

Chock-full of museums, bars, casinos, restaurants, Ferris wheels, and much much more, it’s sure to keep you entertained for hours. If you’re looking to get away from the lights, noise, and general chaos of Clifton Hill you’re in luck. Nature goes beyond the falls in the Niagara Region.

The Niagara Escarpment runs through The United States and Canada and offers spectacular views of nature around Niagara Falls – especially in the autumn when the fall leaves are at their brightest. The Niagara Escarpment is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, as it has the oldest forest ecosystem and trees in eastern North America.

Up until a few years ago, the only thing missing in Niagara Falls was the unique urban axe throwing experience taking the rest of North America by storm since 2006. But that all changed in 2016…

Two Throwing Axes on a Target

BATL AXE THROWING

The BATL Axe Throwing pioneered the sport of urban axe throwing back in 2006, so it’s no surprise that we’re known across the world as the best at what we do. It all started with a group of friends were bored at a cottage outside of Toronto and decided to throw an axe at a stump. Little did they know that this innocent way to pass the time would soon evolve into the creation of a worldwide sport. Upon returning home to Toronto, BATL Axe Throwing founder and CEO Matt Wilson decided to set up a target in his backyard and invite some friends over to show them just how satisfying throwing a sharp axe into wood could be.

It didn’t take long before the word spread, and BATL Axe Throwing quickly multiplied, bringing our sport all over North America, with expansion starting in 2013.

BATL NIAGARA FALLS

In November 2016, BATL Axe Throwing opened up shop on the Queen Street strip in Niagara Falls.

By January of 2017, BATL Axe Throwing had begun running leagues and had already played host to countless new axe throwers from both our private group bookings and public walk-in axe throwing sessions. Since then BATL Niagara has gone on to work with the community around us by taking part in charitable events, street festivals, and much more. We’re happy to be part of the community and can’t wait to see what the future has in store. If you haven’t visited us yet, BATL Axe Throwing offers multiple ways to get involved with our sport:

AXE THROWING LEAGUES

BATL Niagara’s axe throwing leagues run for 8 weeks, completely under the guidance of our resident axe gurus. Each season consists of round-robin style tournament play, where you’ll throw 28 games against other people in the league, culminating in a top 16 double elimination playoff on week 8. Our leagues are suitable for people of all skill levels, with staff on hand at all times ready to give you tips and tricks to make sure that you’re hitting the bullseye. League play falls under the National Axe Throwing Federation (NATF) umbrella, the worlds foremost governing body of the sport of axe throwing (of which BATL is a founding member). Being part of the NATF also gives you access to the most advanced statistic tracking in the sport of urban axe throwing.

PUBLIC WALK-IN SESSIONS

If you’re looking for a casual way to get involved with the sport of axe throwing, this is for you. BATL Niagara offers public walk-in sessions (no reservations required) every weekend. It’s the perfect way to test the water when it comes to axe throwing, with little commitment. Our expert coaches are on hand to guide you the whole way, so whether you’re new to the sport or looking to hone in on your skill we’ve got you covered.

PRIVATE AXE THROWING GROUP EVENTS

BATL Niagara offers private axe throwing group bookings for groups of 2 and up, and are perfectly suited to adult birthday parties, corporate team building events, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and much more. Our private events last 2-2.5 hours and are run in the safe and comfortable environment that BATL has become famous for by our expertly trained staff, who also happen to be the best axe throwers in the planet. They will run you and your guests through training to ensure that you’re all sticking bullseyes before launching you into a round-robin tournament, followed by a playoff (in order to crown a champion, of course). A little friendly competition is a key to any outing with friends, and BATL Axe Throwing also offers a fully licensed bar and food menu – so you can worry about throwing axes and leave the rest to us!

If you’re planning a fall/winter trip to Niagara Falls, Canada, make sure that a trip to BATL Niagara is on your to-do list!
