We have heard you clearly and made some notable changes to improve your experience!
And we have some exciting news about the 2023 league year and BATL Axe Throwing’s prize money tournaments.

- A New League Season Calendar
Yep, you get the whole year’s schedule in advance, and we’re hoping that that makes things easy on you!

- A Whole Year of Tournament’s Planned
That’s in advance! That means you get more time to plan and prepare your competitive schedule! Including the IATC 2023.

- Shorter Seasons
We’ve reduced the weeks per season to 7, down from 8, to allow for stronger competition and reduce fatigue. But also, to let everyone have some time off during holidays. The new format will feature 6 weeks of regular play and the final 7th week of playoffs to crown a season champion.
- Lowered Prices!
As of 2023 Season 1, you’re only going to be paying $125 for your whole season! This includes Standard and Premier, Sprint, and Marathon leagues will be scaled to match depending on the number of matches involved. Plus, all the League Perks and Savings you’ve come to love are still applicable!
- Important IATC 2023 Qualification Dates
Don’t forget that the qualification period for IATC – the International Axe Throwing Championships 2023 – ends on March 10, 2023. So if you haven’t yet completed a qualifying season via a regular season, a sanctioned marathon, or a sprint season, you’re running out of time! Luckily with our handy calendar, you can plan and register for season 1! The remaining seasons through 2023 qualify for IATC 2024.

- IATF Regionals – BATL Portlands & BATL Charlotte Loso | Jan 29th 2023
BATL is hosting two of the IATF Regionals Tournaments this year. Don’t forget that Regionals winners also automatically qualify for Round Two of the Wilson Cup during this year’s IATC 2023 in June!
- Desert Open III – BATL Scottsdale AZ | Feb 18, 2023 – Feb 19, 2023
In the heart of the deserts of Arizona (Do deserts have hearts? Would Scottsdale be the heart? Is it desert, or dessert?), competitors from the west coast and beyond will have a chance to win up to $4600 in cash prizes across 4 rule sets! Tickets are already up for sale on our Tournaments Page.
- Space City Shootout – BATL Houston TX USA | Apr 1, 2023 – Apr 2, 2023

- BATL Royale Novi – BATL NOVI, MI USA| Apr 29, 2023 – Apr 30, 2023
Just outside of Detroit MI. sits the wonderful adventurous city of Novi, but don’t let them fool you into thinking you have a chance to win this axe throwing BATL Royale! They bring in some strong players and are always ready for competition.
- BATL Royale Vaughan – BATL Vaughan Ontario, CA | May 6, 2023 – May 7, 2023
Another BATL Royale! Just outside of Toronto Ontario, CA – the birthplace of BATL Axe Throwing – you can bet that many of the worlds region’s toughest competitors will show! Home to BATL’s very own Vaughan GM – Kimmy “Giant Slayer” Supnet – this competition is sure to be great!
- IATC 2023 Wilson Cup – Multiple BATL Locations in Toronto Ontario, CA | June 10, 2023 – June 11, 2023
Let’s face it! This is the event that everyone has been waiting for since June 2022! Since urban axe throwing was born in the heart of Toronto – by us – it’s only fitting to host the world’s best and biggest axe throwing tournament at home! Over the course of two days, throwers from around the world compete for the coveted Wilson Cup (that’s the guy that started it all – Matt Wilson). This competition features 2 days of narrowing down the world’s best into the final championship playoffs, where 1 winner is crowned as the “World’s Best Axe Thrower”!
Registration for this tournament is by invitation only, so join your local league and compete to earn your spot. Even if you’re not competing, keep the date booked so you can come to watch the action and celebrate with the community.
- Calgary Open – BATL Calgary Alberta, CA | July 15, 2023 – July 16, 2023
Calgary is home to some amazing competitions like the famous Calgary stampede! But what happens when axe throwers from across the west coast come together to BATL it out for glory? It’s a blast! Don’t miss out if you’re in that neck of the woods, valleys, hills, or mountains! Yep, they have it all!
- Charlotte Open – BATL Charlotte, NC | Sept 9, 2023 – Sept 10, 2023
Beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina! An amazing city that attracts some amazing axe throwers. This Open tournament is a yearly event that brings in some of the best of the best, and it’s one you don’t want to miss! Plus they have some amazing weather, so your visit will be pleasant!
- Ottawa Open – BATL Ottawa Ontario, CA| Sept 30, 2023 – Oct 1, 2023
In Ottawa, where rivals are used to fighting it out in Parliament with words and laws, some of us prefer to BATL the right way! With axes and targets! The Ottawa Open calls on competitors from across the region to compete for amazing prize pools, and bragging rights! Also, it boasts of being the home base of BATL Ottawa’s GM – Jenna Gerhardt, who you might recognize as one of the live announcers of IATC 2022! She knows the rules, the game, the players and the fun of the competition. And she can’t wait to welcome you to throw axes in this open tournament.
