The Backyard Axe Throwing League was recently featured in The Weal, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s weekly student newspaper. The Weal visited BATL Calgary to speak with current axe throwing league members and staff to understand the attraction of the sport. The following is an example taken from the article:
“Luke Dewolf, who comes to Sunday league night with his wife, said, ‘I didn’t know it was going to be this organized and this well put together.’ Peter Branden was a Hapkido black belt, but had to give up any sports that involved physical contact or heavy physical exertion for health reasons. Throwing axes at BATL’s league nights is something he can still do”.
