by Brian Simmons 0 comments

General Kitchener Ottawa

Not much says Canada like axe throwing and craft beer, which is something that our friends at Brew Donkey picked up on on long ago!  Brew Donkey has been offering group tour packages as a part of their collaborative monthly series that include the Backyard Axe Throwing League’s locations in both Ottawa and Kitchener Ontario.

It brings together the excitement of axe throwing and Local Craft Beer. The tour will feature two behind the scenes tour at local Ottawa breweries, and on bus education session on craft beer and the Ottawa scene, as well as a private experience at BATL with some axe throwing!  This month's session is completely sold out, but keep your eyes peeled to their website for information on the next group outing!

Once arriving at BATL - everybody on the tour will participate together in one of our private group events.  Our private events offered to groups of 6 people, and are perfectly suited to any party / gathering, with a typical duration of 2-2.5 hours and include private coaching from our expert staff before they run you through a group tournament to crown a champion.  Can't wait for the next Brew Donkey tour?  Book your own private event at one of the 9 BATL locations across Canada today!

Staff Sunday with Athley from Ottawa

Meet Ashley, one of BATL Ottawa’s original staff members. Axe throwing didn’t come naturally for Ashley; it was a love-hate relationship from the get go. She was actually landing the underhand trick shot far before she found her natural throwing technique.

Being a stubborn person and loving a good challenge, she never gave up. Ashley joined the Wednesday Black League and in her first season finished in second place - surprising everyone, especially herself. Her journey is what makes her the highly regard axe throwing coach that she now is today.

When Ashley isn’t leading an event, you can find her behind the bar popping cans to help quench your thirst, and when not at the Backyard Axe Throwing League she can be found at her parent’s hobby farm playing in the dirt with some combination of good music, tacos and/or Caesars. Sounds about right.  #batlstaffsunday
